4-H is not just about showing animals at the county fairs. It’s an incredible organization that helps kids in all types of communities—rural, urban, and suburban. Members work on important issues like food security, climate change, sustainable energy, and healthy living. They also offer STEM programs in areas like agriculture, robotics, environmental protection, and computer science.
Owning a business in your community is a great way to give back to causes that matter to you and your team. At All Craft, we take this seriously by supporting local programs in meaningful ways. One of our main commitments is to 4-H, an organization we’ve proudly supported in Olmsted and Wabasha Counties for several years. We believe that helping 4-H benefits our communities by building confidence and leadership in young people.
Recently, we received a thank-you letter from the University of Minnesota Extension Office for supporting the 2024 Olmsted County 4-H Blue Ribbon Auction. As a Silver Sponsor, we were happy to purchase two ribbons: one for Jamie S.’s market goat and another for Lauren R.’s Holstein winter calf. Moments like these are incredibly rewarding, especially when we see how much the hardworking 4-H participants appreciate our support.
For those who may not know, 4-H started in 1902 with a youth program in Ohio called “The Tomato Club.” Around the same time, similar programs were created in Minnesota and other states. The famous four-leaf clover logo was designed in 1910, and by 1912, these groups became known as 4-H clubs. In 1914, the USDA made 4-H a national program, and by 1924, 4-H clubs officially adopted the clover emblem.
Today, 4-H is active across the U.S., helping kids in all types of communities—rural, urban, and suburban. Members work on important issues like food security, climate change, sustainable energy, and healthy living. They also offer STEM programs in areas like agriculture, robotics, environmental protection, and computer science.
If you’d like to support your local 4-H, you can contact “Connect with Minnesota 4-H” at fourh@umn.edu or call 612-624-2116. Together, we can make a difference for our communities and future generations.
